Adventures in Immunization Compliance
Because I am a public health student, I have some pretty strict immunization guidelines. I have to get two Mantoux tests (the skin test for tuberculosis) my first year, and one next year, along with providing documentation of all my childhood vaccines. I don’t mind doing it, I wish I’d gotten started earlier so that I could have registered on time, but that shouldn’t be a problem. I was just looking at my arm to see how my skin test for consumption is, and it was kind of red, which worried me. So, I Google image searched “positive Mantoux test” to see if I’m doomed to die a horribly romantic 1920s death. I can’t recommend looking those images up, unless you have a fairly strong stomach. Friends, when a Tb skin test is positive, it looks really gnarly. You will know if it’s positive. On the plus side, I probably don’t have tuberculosis!
